Winter walking is now available at Valley View Community Church each Monday - Thursday from 7 a.m. - noon and Friday from 9 a.m. - noon. The church is located at 2772 Simons Drive in Sugarcreek.

“Truth and Agriculture” will be the topic of discussion from featured speaker Dr. Greg Quackenbusch at the Dairy Producer Meeting on Wednesday, February 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dutch Valley Restaurant.  Dr. Jerry Lahmers will share new regulations related to animal care.  Dr. Greg Edwards will talk about new bulk tank testing procedures and the impacts on dairy producers, and OSU Extension’s Chris Zoller will discuss the characteristics of successful dairy farm managers.  A family style lunch will be provided.  Reservations are needed no later than Monday, February 13. The American Legion Post 494 of Sugarcreek has announced their 2012 Winter Family Fish Fry schedule. Dates include: Saturday, February 18 and Saturday, March 17. The public is invited to all events that will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will be served at the Post Home located on Broadway Street in Sugarcreek.

A rigatoni benefit dinner will be held on Sunday, February 19 at the Dover Eagles from 3 to 8 p.m. to benefit Ken Richardson who is battling pancreatic cancer. Annual Prom Showcase and Dress Resale sponsored by Safe Kids Tuscarawas is set for February 20 from 3 to 6 p.m. and February 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dover Alliance Church located at 228 E. Third Street in Dover. Those interested in selling dresses can drop them off on Friday, February 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. or Saturday, February 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a flat fee of $5 to participate in the sale. Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Tuscarawas, Carroll and Stark counties welcome contractors and excavators to an educational workshop at the Crossroads Restaurant in Magnolia on February 21. The day begins with breakfast at 7 a.m. where participants will order from the menu and pay individually. Presentations are scheduled from 8 a.m.  to noon. Topics include: abandoned mine land building hazards, dam construction and liability, stream morphology concepts and basic applications as well as OUPS safety. A community forum on fracking will be held at Wayne College in Orrville on Tuesday, February 21 at 7 p.m. in the Student Life Building. Experts, lawyers and others in the know will be on the panel that is free and open to the public. For more info, call 330-684-8729.

T- County Patriots will host a day of fun at New Towne Mall on Saturday, February 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. centered on history. The first 500 kids will get a free backpack full of treats. There will be prizes and lots of fun for the entire family. For more info, call 740-922-6776.

Wilderness Center Photography Club is hosting “More Than Slideshows: Using Multimedia In Your Work” – a presentation by Dr. Len Cooper. The program is free and open to the public. It will be held Saturday, February 28 at the Wilderness Center in Wilmot beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Greg Miller will share the story behind his “Big Year” at the Tuscarawas County Public Library in New Philadelphia on Wednesday, February 29 at 6:30 p.m. The event is free but reservations are needed and can be made by calling 330-364-4474 ext. 101. Kent State University Tuscarawas will hold an information night on March 8 at 6 p.m. in the Founders Hall Auditorium. Pomerene Hospital is once again offering scholarships to area seniors through the Pomerene Hospital Foundation. They are targeted at those who wish to pursue a career in healthcare and are in the amount of $1,000. Deadline to apply is April 27. The Sugarcreek Police Auxiliary is holding a Sportsman’s Raffle. The drawing will be held after 300 tickets are sold.
